I was born in the spring of 1958 in the Schulgasse 9 in 6290 Weilburg.(Zodiac Sign Aries, Chinese Zodiac: Dog). My
parents named me Rainer Werner (but I also listen to other sounds). The surname (Hoffmann) actually comes from
Lower Silesia, where my father was born in 1921. My technical data are: Height 172 cm (4´ 8´´) so small as Sylvester
Stallone, Kelly Brook or Priyanka Chopra Weight between 64.0 and 67.0 kg, ( 141 lb and 148 lb) Blood group B
Rhpos.(Dpos.), (like about 11% of the world population), Eyecolour: Blue, Type 2-Diabetic, shoe size 43 (9,5), clothing size
times, sometimes so, Marital status: Unmarried, non-denominational.
Fingerprint of the right hand of Rainer Hoffmann, about original size.

When I could walk then I discovered the big little world of Weilburg. After spending time in the stroller, I was able to
explore my surroundings on my own. Of course, the exploration through the short legs took a little longer. There were a
lot of neighbors, with whom you could play well. Before visiting the kindergarten, I successfully pushed myself. A first
sign of "" It will not work out ". The most popular playgrounds were for us the streets around our home, so the Schul-
gasse, Bogengasse, Schwanengasse, Marktstrasse, Neugasse, Mauerstrasse and Langgasse. The Neptune fountain, in
which we could not look in, the old town hall, the monument to the Komödienbau, the castle garden with the Gebück etc ,
Since we were not allowed to park bicycles in the stairwell, I started running roller skates very early. First shoes with
metal rollers. Since you could hear me already rolled before you saw me. Later I got roller skates with plastic rollers. I
then went with my first girlfriend (laugh) more often in the castle theater (old cinema). A relative of my girlfriend was
usher in the cinema on Sundays. He then left us for knocking for free through the exit to the cinema.
In the fountains in the castle courtyard some people threw in coins which we then fished out with a magnet on a string.
Unfortunately, the coins we were concerned with (ie those with value) were not magnetic. In autumn, we collected
children's chestnuts for the Tiergarten Hirschhausen. The best trees stood at the Hainkaserne near the Lahn. In the
fall we have also converted thickwurz (German: beetroot, fodder turnip) into a thickwurz devil. An available thick-root
was outgrown and then provided a face with mouth, nose and eyes. Then a hole for a stick came into the ground of the
Wurz. Then we put a candle in the dried-out thickwurz and scared the inhabitants in the city center. To scare the
thickwurz devil was held in front of the windows and made a lot of noise. For me the stealing of the thickwurz was still
the most exciting. In any case, back in the 1960s there were many more downtown businesses than today (2017). Of
course, the children in the neighborhood and the rest of the city were good playmates for me. Incidentally, I learned
very late that I was born in a former school and was allowed to live there until the age of nine. More in the chapter about
Weilburg. I am also grateful that my parents were not helicopter parents who constantly took care of me and supposedly
always wanted the best for me.
Then we moved 3 days before my 9th birthday in a outskirts of the city Weilburg. We also had a lawn around the house
and a large wooden gate to the street side. The wooden gate was then the target for snowballs or darts arrows. Soon I
got to know the boy in the neighboring house. The neighbor boy and I often played together from then on. Nevertheless,
there was still something like homesick for the city center. Now in the winter the deer came very close to the house and
rabbits hopped over the snow-covered pasture of the farm. Unfortunately there was no such thing in Weilburg city
center. Now I should finally learn to swim. A swimming course in Odersbacher swimming pool made sure that I could stay
afloat. Then I did the swimming badges that existed back then (that was some form of ambition). In the summer, the
neighbor and I were driven to swim to the Vöhler Weiher (located between Merenberg and Waldernbach) or Odersbach
in the swimming pool. When we had both bicycles the path led us to Weinbach in the swimming pool. When it went to the
dance school, I pushed myself again successfully. I was way too small for that. For that I spent two years in the DLRG.
There I then made the basic permit (especially the 25 m diving was very difficult for me). However, shortly after I left
the DLRG again. I do not think I've forgotten how to swim until today.
But before the confirmation I could not resist this time. Since there were only 4 confirmands in the Weilburg parish
district III, we came to Weilburg Odersbach and then there have been confirmed.
It was just stupid that we always had to go to the castle church on Sundays. And since my classmate was also the son of
the pastor, there was already a certain amount of pressure. Then it took another 2 years until the school ended with a
fun graduation party in Waldernbach (funny is a matter of opinion here, as so often). Then again this seriousness of life
began .. Then it was about the career choice. As I had been attending a amateur radio course with my neighbor for 6
months, I was interested in electronics (before that it was chemistry, black powder and potassium permanganate and so
on). Then I learned from a classmate that he had applied to Philips in Wetzlar. As a result, I applied to Philips and, for
security, to the telecommunications office in Gießen. , We both drove together to Wetzlar for an attitude test. The
went from morning 8:00 clock am to 3:00 in the afternoon. Then we were both taken and started in September 1974 at
Philips as apprentices for the profession of radio electronics.
